Interview with Grace Sasaki (nee Kuwahara)

Grace Sasaki (nee Kuwahara)'s interview was conducted on September 18, 2012 by Elizabeth Fujita-Kwan.

Grace Sasaki (nee Kuwahara) was born on November 11th, 1925, in Calgary, Alberta. In this interview, she discusses her childhood growing up in Calgary, the retail business her family ran, and her memories of the community there. She reflects on how her parents might have felt moving to and living in Canada, and the trouble she had in school being the only Asian girl in her class. She also briefly discusses her memories of the war years and recounts memories of her dad going to the train station to greet incoming Japanese Canadian arrivals from the West.
