Interview with Stan and Aileen Yokota

Stan Yokota and Aileen Yokota (nee Ohori)'s interview was conducted on August 28, 2012, by Elizabeth Fujita-Kwan.

Aileen Reiko Yokota (nee Takata) was born October 8th, 1941, in Ocean Falls, BC, and Stan Kenichi Yokota was born in 1936, in Kelowna, BC. In this interview, they discuss their respective upbringings: Aileen having moved to Toronto when she was toddler, and Stan growing up on a farm in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. They also discuss their work building and helming the Japanese Gospel Church of Toronto, which Stan started involvement with in 1958, along with their careers as schoolteacher (Aileen) and pastor (Stan). They speak about their involvement with the Japanese Canadian community in Toronto, mentioning many community members that they have gotten to know along the way and the connections they’ve maintained over the years with them.
