Judo at the JCCC

Along with Aikido, Karate and Kendo, Judo has been an integral part of the JCCC marital arts program since its inception in 1963. Judo has been carried forth for over 40 years under the direction of dedicated instructors who brought Judo to literally thousands of students of all ages.

Judo was introduced in two programs under the direction of Senseis Gen Nakahara, Peter Hasegawa and Senseis Glenn Kawano, Roger Murdock and Ford Kawano. These Senseis were vital in establishing not only Judo programs at the JCCC, but in the province. Over the years there have been many dedicated yudansha (black belts) who assisted them – all of whom have contributed generously of their time and knowledge.

In September 2000, the two judo programs were officially recognized at the JCCC; the JCCC-Seidokai Judo under the direction of Sensei Bill Aoki and the JCCC-Judo Education Centre under the direction of Sensei Ken Fukushima.

In September 2004, the JCCC officially opened it new judo program under the club name JCCC Judo Kai. The JCCC Judo Kai offers a comprehensive weekly judo program for the recreational to competitive judoka of all ages.
