Taiko Workshops - lead by Yakudo Traditional Japanese Drummers

Taiko drumming workshops for beginners, experienced and youth. Come out and catch the taiko spirit!

Workshops will be offered for beginners who want to try taiko for the first time as well as returning taiko enthusiasts who wish to further develop their skills. Youth workshops are being offered for children and youth between the ages of 4-15.

Fundamentals of Taiko

Sunday, February 1, 2015, 12:30am–2:30pm

Learn the fundamentals of taiko playing Yakudo style – a combination of martial arts and music. Develop the taiko spirit with a solid base. In this workshop, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of drumming, different rhythms, and a traditional taiko piece. This is highly recommended if you continue with more taiko lessons or specialized workshops with Yakudo. 10 people max.

Kodaiko Workshop (age 4-7)

Sunday February 1, 2015, 2:30 pm–3:30 pm

Learn all about Taiko and its ties to Japanese culture. Also learn fundamentals of taiko and rhythm, through fun activities and games played on authentic instruments. 10 people max

Sumodaiko Workshop (age 8-15)

Sunday February 1, 2015, 3:30 pm–4:30 pm

Learn the fundamentals of taiko playing Yakudo style - a combination of martial arts and music. Develop the taiko spirit with a solid base and be able to perform a fun traidtional taiko piece at the end of the workshop. 10 people max

Fee

Fundamentals of Taiko Workshop Fee: $65, $60 for JCCC members

Kodaiko and Sumodaiko Workshop Fee: $25, $20 for JCCC members
