The film that will be screened on Thursday October 8, 2009 at 7:00pm will be Pilgrimage, a half hour documentary explaining how an annual Japanese American pilgrimage to an abandoned internment camp at Manzanar has become a bigger peace symbol for human and civil rights groups in Southern California.
But the big bonus for the evening will be three short films written and produced by young Japanese Canadian film-makers. One of them, Ken Galloway of Toronto, will be in attendance to show his film and will be available for a question and answer session after the showing. The other two films being shown are from Jeff Chiba Stearns, of Kelowna, B.C. One is titled “What Are You Anyways?” and the other “Yellow Sticky Notes.”
Admission is free but donations will be appreciated.
